Turmeric to Cure Allergies

Turmeric is one of the safe herbs used extensively in the treatment of skin disorders. Here we have listed some amazing remedies to treat  allergies with turmeric at home.

 

Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory and bactericidal property due to the presence of curcumin. It also lowers the expression of enzymes responsible for inflammation in the body and treats inflammation of skin associated with eczema.

 

How turmeric is helpful

Do you keep on sneezing after someone applies perfume near you? Does your nose get stuffy when there are tiny dust particles around? If you have been dealing with these problems since forever, you surely know about your allergies and must have tried almost everything in your capacity to cure this problem. The treatment of the allergies mostly depend on the severity of the symptoms and every allergy has a different treatment. But there is a miraculous ingredient present in every Indian kitchen that can help you to get rid of your allergies.

 

How turmeric helps

Allergies can be triggered due to multiple reasons. It can occur due to certain foods, medicines, pollen, smoke, etc. When these things enter the body of an allergic person, they activate the release of histamines in the bloodstream, which in turn, can accelerate mucus production.

 

The symptoms of allergies are wheezing, skin rashes, throat irritation, and many others.

 

Turmeric has been used as a spice and medicine herb in India for a thousand years. The yellow spice contains compounds called curcuminoids and the most important of which is curcumin. This compound is a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and an excellent product in dealing with numerous health-related problems.

 

Turmeric milk

Ingredients: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, one cup milk, one teaspoon honey, a pinch of black pepper.

 

How to have it: Mix turmeric powder in boiling milk. Now add honey and black pepper in it. Mix the ingredients well and let it cool for a while.

Drink this every day before going to bed. People who are lactose intolerant should use almond milk or coconut milk instead of cow milk.


Turmeric Paste


You Will Need:

ü 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric

ü Chilled milk


Method:

ü Mix the turmeric and milk to form a paste.

ü Apply it to the affected areas. Leave it on for 20 minutes.

ü Rinse with warm water and pat dry.


How Often: Once a day, before taking a bath.

 

Why This Works: Milk effectively soothes irritated skin. It contains proteins like whey and casein, lactic acid, fat, amino acids, and vitamins A and D, which are excellent for calming irritated skin.


Turmeric water

Ingredients: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric and a glass of water

How to have it: Add turmeric powder in a glass of water and mix it well. Drink this mixture at least once a day.

 

Turmeric with apple cider vinegar

Ingredients: one small turmeric root, one teaspoon lemon zest, two tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar, and 1/4 cup honey

 

How to have it: Grind the turmeric to make a fine paste. Now add honey, lemon zest, and apple cider vinegar in it. Mix it well and store it in an airtight container. Have one spoon of this mixture every day in the morning on an empty stomach.

 

Turmeric tea

Ingredients: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon honey, and 1 glass of water

 

How to have it: Heat the water in a pan and add turmeric powder in it. Stir it well and pour the concoction in a glass.

Now mix honey in it and consume it. Drinking turmeric tea twice a day can relieve the symptoms of allergies.

 

 Turmeric With Lemon And Honey


You Will Need:

ü 2 medium pieces of turmeric root

ü 1 lemon

ü 1 teaspoon honey

ü Water

ü A pinch of cayenne pepper

ü A banana (optional)


Method:

ü Blend the turmeric roots to make a paste.

ü Add freshly squeezed lemon to it.

ü Add honey, cayenne pepper, and water.

ü Stir well to make a turmeric smoothie.

ü You can also add a banana for taste.


How Often: Once a day, whenever you want. You can replace your breakfast with this smoothie.

 

Why This Works: This smoothie is especially used to treat sinus allergies. Lemon juice contains vitamin C, which helps block histamine. Raw honey has propolis, which is known for boosting the immune system. The capsaicin in cayenne pepper reduces nasal congestion and stuffiness.

 

Turmeric With Olive Oil And Water


You Will Need:

ü 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

ü 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil

ü A pinch of black pepper powder

ü A glass of water


Method:

ü Add the turmeric powder and olive oil to water.

ü Add the black pepper powder to the mixture.

ü Stir the ingredients together.


How Often: Consuming this once daily will help you get relief from seasonal allergies.

 

Why This Works: Olive oil contains a polyphenol called hydroxytyrosol that is very effective in combating allergic reactions. Black pepper contains piperine, which significantly enhances the absorption of curcumin in turmeric.

 

Turmeric With Sandalwood Paste


You Will Need:

ü 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

ü 1 teaspoon red sandalwood

ü Lukewarm water


Method:

ü Mix equal quantities of red sandalwood and turmeric powder with water to make a paste.

ü Apply the paste on the affected areas.

ü Let it stay for about half an hour.

ü Rinse with lukewarm water.


How Often: Twice a day.


Why This Works: Sandalwood has antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory, and disinfectant properties. It effectively treats rashes and skin eruptions.

 

Turmeric Juice With Honey


You Will Need:

ü 1 teaspoon of turmeric juice

ü 2 tablespoons of honey


Method:

ü Mix the juice and honey.

ü Slather it on the affected areas.

ü Keep it on for half an hour.

ü Wash it off.


How Often: Once a day, before taking a bath.

 

Why This Works: Honey has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe the affected areas. Turmeric has antibacterial and antihistamine properties and helps combat the rashes.

 

Precautions

ü Always buy organic turmeric for best result.

ü Though consuming turmeric does not generally have any side effects, do not overdo it as it may lead to upset stomach, nausea, dizziness or diarrhea.

ü Be careful while trying these home remedies if you are pregnant.

ü In case you have gallbladder or blood clotting issues then avoid this home remedy.
