Important Tips: How to Get Rid of Under Eye Bags?

Dark circles or bags under our eyes: it’s not pretty and we always want to get rid of them as quickly as possible when we have them. Of course, you could try using all kind of expensive eye creams, but it’s much easier to just take a couple of these food products from the fridge! These (cheap) products are very efficient when it comes to reducing the dark circles under your eyes.

By using these food products say goodbye to those bags under your eyes:


Whole milk

One of the food products we already have in our fridge normally is whole milk. And this is the perfect product to help you get rid of the bags under your eyes! The lactic acid in whole milk has a calming effect on the skin and also hydrates it. Drench two cotton pads in the cold milk and put these under your eyes for a few minutes.



Cucumbers are a fantastic natural remedy to get rid of under eye puffiness. Take 2 slices of fresh refrigerated cucumber and place it on your eyes for 25 minutes. Relax with the cool soothing slices over your eyes and slip into a short nap, it will help refresh your mind as well as your eyes, and the anti-inflammatory properties of the cool cucumber will naturally help reduce puffy tissues.


Raw potato

Don’t have any cucumber in your fridge? Check the pantry for a good old potato. These work very well as an alternative to cucumber. Peel a potato, cut it into slices and then put a slice under each eye. The slices of potato also help to remove any excess moisture from underneath your eyes.


Egg whites

Another handy method for getting rid of the bags under your eyes is to use egg whites. Not only will it help you combat the dark circles under your eyes, but it will also make your skin tighter and help prevent wrinkles.

Separate the egg white from the yolk in two separate little bowls. Whip up the egg white and apply it under your eyes with a small brush. Leave this to sit and do its thing for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.


Green or black tea

Both green and black tea have a calming effect on your skin and will also reduce swelling. Let two tea bags soak in a cup of hot water for a minute or so and then put them in the fridge for half an hour.

Next, place them on your eyes for 15 minutes. Another option is to make some green tea, pour this into an ice cube tray and then freeze it. When they’re completely frozen, you can wrap an ice cube in a cloth and put this underneath your eyes for a few minutes.
