Pakistan in a Hurry: Expanding Its Nuclear and Missile Stockpiles Very Fast

Author : Odisha Today Bureau | Posted on: 2019-07-16

Despite being engulfed in a financial crisis Pakistan is “relentlessly” expanding its armed forces, especially nuclear and missile capabilities, even as it continues to “persistently target” India with state-sponsored cross-border terrorism, says the Indian defence ministry (MoD).

In August last year after Imran Khan government visited the office, the annual report suggested by the MoD says that Pakistan’s foreign security and defence policies has further consolidated its position.

The MoD’s assertion about the rapidly-increasing nuclear and missile arsenals of Pakistan comes in the wake of international assessments that Islamabad now has 140-150 nuclear warheads as compared to India’s 130-140.

According to reports, the MoD said, “There are global concerns regarding proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems. The proliferation of such weapons pose a serious danger to international security”.

MoD said that WMD terrorism may remain a potent threat as long as the terrorists seeking to gain access to relevant materials and technologies for malicious purposes which they may use for their own personal access.

In the recent MoD report, Pakistan was brutally slammed for its active involvement to anti-India terrorists organisations which said that it has avoided taking action against jihadi and internationally proscribed terror outfits that target its neighbours.

Reports further suggest that such groups continue to persist and such outfits lead to countinuous encouragement which lead the terrorists to infiltrate into India under the cover of the massive cross Line of Control and cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas throughout the year
