Odisha Railway Allocated an Exclusive ₹ 5993 Crore in Rail Budget, Highest Ever

The Union budget 2019-20 has allocated Rs. 5993 crore for the railway sector of Odisha, registering an increase of Rs. 741 crore from the last year's outlay, a railway official said on Wednesday.

 

It is the highest ever railway allotment for Odisha.

 

The interim budget had provided Rs Rs 5940 crore and last year's budget have given Rs Rs 5252 crore to the state, an East Coast Railway (ECoR) spokesperson said.

 

The fund was allocated  for various projects, passenger amenities, track renewal and repairs, road overbridges, road underbridges, electrification and staff amenities.



 

Giving details of the allocations, East Coast Railway authorities said on Wednesday that as many as five new surveys were announced for Odisha. Passenger amenities have got an allocation of 180 crore, they said.

 

The new projects for which the funds had been allocated include flyover at Baghuapal, grant for maintenance of coaches, automatic coach washing plants at Bhubaneswar and new wheel lathe for Mancheswar Workshop, Angul Electric Loco Shed and Bondamunda.

 

Five new surveys were also announced in the rail budget. These include Raja Athagarh to Kaipadar Road avoiding Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road; 10 flyovers at Titlagarh, Singapur Road, Haridaspur, Koraput, Sambalpur, Machhapur, Jajpur Road, Sambalpur City, Sarla and Gopalpur Port; chord line from Talcher to Angul through colliery to avoid engine reversal at Talcher; bypass from Titlagarh-Rahenbata to Sikir; and flyover at Cuttack for goods train to avoid congestion at Cuttack.

 

Besides, funds have been allocated for laying new railway lines and doubling of lines. While 400 crore has been allocated for Haridaspur-Paradeep new line, 350 crore has been allocated for Khurda Road-Bolangir new line, and 250 crore for Angul-Sukinda Road new line and 150 crore for Talcher-Bimlagarh new line.
