South Orrisa Voluntary Action Bags Odisha Excellence Award 2019

The 2nd edition of the prestigious Odisha Excellence Award (OEA) was conferred on 17 personalities and three organisations by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal here on Sunday.


The Odisha Excellence Award ceremony is an annual event to recognize real heroes and achievers of the state and felicitate them for their extraordinary excellence and contribution in different fields of art, sports, culture, entertainment, education, development and social service.


Leading social organization South Orissa Voluntary Action (SOVA) has been awarded with this much acclaimed award of Odisha in the category of Community Development. Sanjit Patnayak, Chief Functionary of SOVA, received the award from honorable Governor Prof Lal.


SOVA is a non-profit organization working for the past two decades in undivided Koraput districts. SOVA empowers the most disadvantaged members of society especially women and children, to improve their own lives, through healthcare, education, governance, livelihood, disaster relief and child rights.


The second edition of the prestigious OEA award list includes Padmashri Prafulla Kar (music), Padmashri Sudarshan Sahoo (art), Padmashri Ileana Citaristi (dance), Jagadananda (social service), Haraprasad Das (literature), Ajit Das (theatre), Mahasweta Ray (cinema), Arun Bothra (public service), Anuradha Biswala (sports), Sandeep Sahu (journalism), Jagadish Prasad Naik (entrepreneurship), Arun Kumar Sabat (motivation), Akshay Kumar Rout (health), Priyadarshi Pany (leadership), Sabita Patnaik (education), Prashant Sahu (information technology) and Trinath Lenka (wealth management).


Likewise three Institutions/organisations have been nominated for this much awaited State Level Award. NALCO for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Vajirao IAS Academy for Coaching and South Orissa Voluntary Action (SOVA) for Community Development also received Odisha Excellence Award 2019.
