Reliance industries seems to be taking the Jio branding to another level. Now the company is also branding Jio in its real estate business. The Jio World Centre is bring built in Mumbai. The company had introduced to brand Jio for its telecom venture, but later the company has used the same branding for its digital wallet and entertainment venture. It seems that the brand name worked a lot for Reliance, and it wants to take it everywhere. The conglomerate has introduced the Jio brand name for the Jio World Centre, which is located in the commercial district of Bandra Kurla Complex. It will house a convention centre, hotels, two malls including a luxury mall, performing art theatre, a roof top drive-in movie theatre and commercial offices, the people related to the industry said. These people privy to the plans said luxury mall will host various global luxury brands, including those that have partnership with RIL, such as Segna, Canali, Bottega, Veneta, Bally and Armani. Another person said that RIL plans to earmark a zone or floor in the 400,000 sqft luxury mall for Indian designers such as Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla and Raghuvendra Rathore to showcase Indian talent.
Over the years, RIL has spread the Jio brand name umbrella to several products and services industry including mobile phone and date services, Jio Money Wallet, Jio Cinema and Jio TV. Besides, RIL operates a JIO branded online fashion e-commerce site. In fact, RIL’s unit Reliance Retail operates more than 9000 stores—the largest retail network in India—spanning more than 19.50 million sqft and running supermarkets to specialty outlets. Another unit, Reliance Brands, has a bouquet of more than 40 global brands and earlier in 2018 RIL and its arms purchased Delhi-based Genesis Colours and Genesis Luxury, inheriting Swish labels such as Burberry, Canali, Paul Smith, Armani, Just Conalli and Jimmy Choo.
Over the past 6 years, Reliance industries has hired many expats to innovate and differentiate the world’s fastest growing teleco. Ask any Reliance Jio insider and you will be told Building TC-22 and the Jio headquarters in Navi Mumbai are where the actions take place. Jio started operations just about 16 months ago. It sees itself in the digital business, and not as a teleco only. Most of its staff—with an unusual proportion of foreigners—are pushed to redesign every aspect of a teleco’s operation. Most of its people are in their 20s and 30s. This is how the expats changed the Jio’s fortunes and the Indian telecom business.
As per sources, Jio is also entering the broadband sector soon with its Jio GigaFiber broadband services. Jio GigaFiber FTTH broadband services were announced during the annual meeting of Reliance Group. However, the company did not break their silence on its availability to the public. Meanwhile, the company joined hands with Hathway and Den Networks for last mile connectivity. The broadband services are expected to launch anytime soon in India because the company has already tested the services in metropolitan cities.
As anyone can see, reliance is giving more importance to its Jio brand to be more famous, more in terms of real estate business and entertainment ventures and also preparing itself to be 5G ready in the coming years. RIL has covered a huge piece of market, which has spread rapidly all over India. So Jio brand will also take the whole market in terms of real estate and entertainment ventures in the coming years.
