Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on
Wednesday accused Congress president Rahul Gandhi of
using his courtesy visit to him for ‘petty political gains’ and even clarified
that there was no mention of Rafale issue in the five minute visit.
In a letter
to Gandhi, Parrikar addressed the Congress chief to put forward his truth and
not to use his visit to an ailing person for political gains.
letter came a day after Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the
Rafale deal, claiming that Parrikar, who is former defence minister, had
clearly stated that he has nothing to do with the ‘new deal’.
Gandhi’s statement had come hours after he met Parrikar at the Goa Assembly
complex in Panaji. He said, “Friends, the ex-defence minister Mr Parrikar
clearly stated that he has nothing to do with the new deal that was
orchestrated by Mr Narendra Modi to benefit Anil Ambani”.
in his letter to Gandhi said that, “he deeply felt let down by how you used
your five minutes visit for your petty political gains. In the five minutes
which we spent, neither did you mention anything about Rafale deal, nor did we
discuss anything about/related to it.”
